ANNUAL FILM & PHOTO VOICE REGION-WIDE FESTIVAL

• The Multimedia Film Festival of York Region is a flag-ship digital photo/film festival staged in marque venues across York Region in partnership with regional and grassroots agencies, municipalities as well as the corporate sector.

• The Multimedia Film Festival of York Region encompasses diverse communities across the Region from Georgina Island and Keswick to Nobleton and Kleinburg.

• Multimedia submissions explore the varied and rich identities not to mention experiences and challenges of those within our Region.

The Multimedia Film Festival of York Region includes: A region-wide media launch event, opening ceremonies, showcase entertainment; the screening of films and photo-voices across different venues within each municipality (e.g. the historic district of downtown Newmarket); interviews/panel discussions following each screening; and an awards & closing gala.

The above events unfold in an oasis that recognizes and showcases the diversity of our Region and its people whether through artful performances, displayed art pieces in local galleries and/or the provisions of cultural dishes and wares.

The Multimedia Film Fesitival of York Region offers a forum to members of the entire Region to begin/continue a dialogue centred on diversity as well as commonality and challenges. A festival of this nature garners the presence of politicians, community members/leaders, human service professionals, corporate figures, and the media. The hope is for the entire Region to engage in a conversation regarding matters of diversity and its inherit challenges and strengths.
